For our trekking experiences, in line with government guidelines, we can only accept bookings for groups of 6 or less from a maximum of 2 different households. This applies to over 12's only.
For our Christmas activities, we can only accept bookings for groups of 10 comprised of a maximum of 4 adults (over 12's) from a maximum of 2 difference households.
Failure to adhere to these rules will result in cancellation of your booking and no refund can be given.
What to bring
Please ensure all over 5's bring a face-mask with them.
We will be walking on and around farmland. The ground can be very damp and uneven in places, please bring sensible footwear (wellies or sturdy boots). If you do not have suitable footwear then you will be unable to participate in the trek and no refunds are available. We do stock a small supply of additional wellies which can be hired with socks, but we cannot guarantee we have your size. Please ensure you dress appropriately for the weather and bring waterproofs and sunscreen if needed. During the colder months we would recommend some gloves as your hands will be exposed holding the lead.
Please remember that Alpacas are naturally timid animals and can be alarmed by loud sounds and sudden movements, children need to be closely supervised by their grown up at all times! Children need to be able to manage the full trek, this will be done at a very gentle pace and the routes are fairly flat. We trust the judgement of parents as to whether this activity is suitable for their children having taken this information into account.
Children under 8 are free of charge and can walk with a paying adult on a trek and help with the lead rein (only one child per adult). Children and young adults 8-16yrs old must be accompanied by at least one trekking or a walking adult who is in charge of them (this does not apply to Christmas events as there is no trek involved).
Please ensure you arrive in plenty time for your trek. We recommend you arrive 15 mins prior to the start of the trek. Unfortunately we cannot delay the start of a trek and you are unable to join in part way through. Please check the directions in advance and call as soon as possible if you are delayed for any reason.
Our experiences will last between 45 and 90mins in total.
Cancellations due to COVID-19
If you are unable to travel for you booked trek due to government imposed travel restrictions, we will offer a full refund on any sums paid over to Arran Alpacas. We are also happy to offer alternative dates for your trek if this is suitable.
Cancellations must be made no less than 48 hours before. You will be invited to reschedule a maximum of once per booking. Cancellations under 48 hours cannot be rescheduled and will not be subject to refund except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Arran Alpacas.
When there are other customers booked onto the trek we will be unable to delay the start of the trek, and we can not return to the start to pick up late arrivals, unfortunately if you miss the start of the trek you will not be subject to a refund or to reschedule.
Arran Alpacas reserve the right to cancel the trek in event of poor weather. Please note every effort will be made to undertake the trek but the safety and enjoyment of Alpacas and trekkers is of the upmost importance to us.
Feeding the alpaca
During your trek you will be provided with some treats for your alpaca, we kindly ask that you do not give them any additional food as this may not agree with them. The treats you have will be more than enough for your walk and help the bond between you and your alpaca.
