Experiences

Tom with alpacas

Alpacas are beautiful, placid animals and like us all, each has a unique personality. This makes them all so lovable in their own way. Spending time with alpacas is a great way to unwind, laugh and forget the stresses of modern life.

At Arran Alpacas, you will find an alpaca experience best suited to your group - they are a fantastic activity for all!! Our setting in the heart of Arran provides the perfect backdrop. Al experiences finish with complimentary refreshments and use of our play area and facilities.

Experiences

Choose between a WEE TREK or BIG TREK. At times we run seasonal events, keep an eye on our Events and Alpaca News page for updates. Find out more about what each entails - we provide a range of activities so there is something for everyone.

WEE TREK (60 mins)

We can help take photos of your group too!
The sheep like when treats are saved for them.
Smiles all round!
Winter strolls
Long leads ensure little ones can help out on treks too!
Lomond and Nevis
Glen is always a friendly boy to trek

After meeting and learning about alpacas and a short health and safety briefing (approx. 30 mins), you will be assigned an alpaca buddy to feed and take out on a little trek (approx. 25 - 30 mins) around our site with an all-important alpaca selfie stop. This allows you to get up close and personal with our alpaca boys and plenty of time to ask any alpaca questions you may have.

  • Ideal for little or older legs, this trek is on flatter ground around our site
  • Please book online
  • £19 per person (aged 8 and over) who will trek an alpaca
  • £24 for a shared alpaca (for under 8 and adult together)
  • Children aged 8 - 16 must be accompanied by an adult who can join our trek but not lead an alpaca (or lead an alpaca if they wish)
  • Small cost of £7.50 for accompanying adult and walkers

One family enjoy a sunny trek

Your BIG trek experience will begin with an informative session (approx. 30 mins) where you will learn some fascinating alpaca facts and we provide a health and safety briefing. You will be assigned your alpaca buddy and be given an opportunity to feed them (this will make you their new best friend)! Then it is time for your 50 minute trek through surrounding fields and our site, showing off wonderful views at a very leisurely pace. This is a fun amble with plenty of time to ask questions, chat and most importantly, taking many photos and selfies with your alpaca buddy.

The BIG trek experience is not suitable for children under 5. We will trust parent's judgement regarding if older kids can manage the full trekking distance. Due to the ground conditions we regret to say that our treks are not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
